Meet Emily…

Hi! I’m Emily Stevens (she/her), I’m an artist and storyteller at heart as well as a first generation college graduate who was a high achiever in academics despite a chaotic world inside my head.

I specialize in working with queer folks as well as folks experiencing OCD, complex trauma, dissociation and more. You’re worth it, let me show you!

As a queer therapist growing up in the south, I have a passion for research and advocacy, especially in the LGBTQIA+ community. I’ve found so much light and hope working in a world on fire with individuals who have experienced complex trauma, OCD, dissociation, depression and anxiety.

Growing up as a member of Gen Z (and as an only child), I found myself in more than enough awkward social situations and leaned into the wonder of online communities and creativity.

I know how important it is to know you aren’t alone.

My drive for advocacy work and breaking barriers along with my values of creating safe spaces and trusting relationships with clients has led me to find my calling in Clinical Social Work.

Making your head a safe place to be makes a world of a difference and I can give you the tools to take charge of your life again and fall back in love with living.

EVERY person has the ability to take control of their narrative and live their best life, whatever that looks like for you!

One of my favorite parts about the work I do is watching someone learn how to fall in love with life again. I look forward to working with you to uncover your passions and strengths to get your light back.

You are the one you’ve been waiting for, it’s time to commit to your healing and go to therapy.

Let's utilize your inner power and courage to build your BEST!

This is some of the boring (but important!) stuff:

I got my BSW at the University of South Florida and went on to get my MSW at the same University. I am certified in Brainspotting and frequently seek continuing education, conferences, supervision and new information to be the best I can be for my clients.

I do this work because I love it and I’m passionate about it!

This is your sign - It's time to start your therapy journey!

I'm ready when you are.

My Approach,

Values & Identity

I believe when clients have clarity on their therapist’s identities and values, they can feel confident about having a safe place to show up and do the work to heal and create that place in themself. When we have a safe place in our body and minds we can in turn feel safe enough to create the life of our dreams. I help people explore their own identities to find their true self and step into their power.

I’m a white, queer, cis-woman and I do acknowledge that showing up in this healing space requires me to do my own work to navigate power dynamics and create a space where you can show up without fear. I am constantly learning and researching so I can show up the best for my clients and community. I receive supervision and am focused on working with queer, trans and gender-expansive clients. I believe in a de-pathologized, de-colonized, humanistic and holistic approach to healing. I believe that as humans we heal through relationships, especially the therapeutic relationship.

My love for art and storytelling drives me to find creative and applicable solutions to provide you with the best support possible. If you’re a creative I always love to incorporate your talent into the healing work we do. I also work with people of all belief systems, though I don’t identify as religious myself, and if you have spirituality you want to explore or bring to session it’s welcome.

I believe that every person is capable of bouncing back and seeing life in a new energized light no matter what part of your journey you’re on. Let me help you by evaluating all of the areas that play a part in your life to help you troubleshoot realistic solutions and find peace.

If you have any questions regarding my values, please feel free to reach out!

10 Things I Love

1. Travelling!

Out of the office I’m most likely adventuring exploring my Florida backyard or chasing new horizons.

2. Cute Trinkets

I am such a sucker for a cute little pink kitty trinket with a bow. I’m always making some more room for my next adorable find/creation.

3. Good Food

Some favs include alfredo pasta, rice and beans in any form!

4. Animals!!

I used to have two rats, a hamster and two miniature schnauzers that live on in my heart fondly. Now I’m mom of a tuxedo kitty, Orlok.

5. Giving Compliments

Seeing someone’s eyes light up after I compliment their fit, cut crease makeup look, bedazzled crocs or tattoos.

Connection is everything.

6. Good Stories

Transporting yourself to a different world is so fun.

The Lord of The Rings is one of my favorite fantasy series and I have some tattoos to show for it.

7. A Warm Cup of Tea

Earl gray creme tea preferably, perfection!

8. Clouds

My favorite kind is cumulonimbus clouds and no, I could not spell that off the top of my head.

(They’re the big fluffy ones!)

9. Creativity

Art in just about every form.

A pottery wheel, paint brush or pencil in hand, who knows what whacky creation could emerge!

10. Watching my clients fall in love with living again

The excitement of engaging in a new hobby or getting a perfect croissant at the bakery.

It’s the little things that add up.
